If you’re here, it’s because you are one of 367 MILLION people suffering from hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating.

The actual source of the smell is bacteria growing in your shoes. When your feet sweat a lot, your shoes become damp and a breeding ground for foul-smelling bacteria, through no fault of your own.

If you wear your shoes for days in a row, they may not have time to dry, which can cause the smelly bacteria to proliferate at an alarming rate.

To get rid of stinky feet forever, you have to address both sources of the problem: the sweaty feet and the bacteria-ridden shoes.

REDUCING SWEAT PRODUCTION

While you cannot completely eliminate foot sweat, you can dramatically reduce it with an anti-perspirant. This Sweat Block anti-perspirant is rated the #1 anti-perspirant on Amazon. With good reason – it only has to be applied every 7 days.

Of course, you can use other anti-perspirants as well, though they may have to be applied daily. Word of caution, make sure that your feet are dry before putting them in your shoes or you’ll slip around.

BACTERIA-RIDDEN SHOES

Now if you reduce the sweat production, but put your feet back in those old shoes, your feet will still smell. Why? Because bacteria has already colonized in those old shoes and when you put your warm feet in them, the bacteria will continue to grow. You’ve got to get rid of those shoes and replace them to see results.

Even with anti-perspirant, new shoes that are made of synthetic fibers will trap the sweat and still allow bacteria to grow. Again, wearing the same shoes every day will exacerbate this problem.

You need to invest in real leather shoes that will be able to “breathe.”

After tons of research, I ultimately decided to purchase Tieks ballet flats and, boy, have they been worth the investment! The leather allows the sweat to evaporate. Six months after purchase, even without anti-perspirant and wearing them daily, they don’t smell. At all.

It has been such a relief to eliminate the stinky feet issues. If my shoe dangles off my foot, there isn’t an embarrassing smell. Or if I need to take my shoes off at someone’s house, I don’t worry there will be an odor. Even for myself, it’s nice not to have to go through all the contortions of washing my feet every night.

If you want to check out Tieks, they come in a variety of colors and styles. My favorite are the Obsidian Black Patent. They are an investment, but they have SO been worth it for what they have saved me in constantly replacing cheap shoes. I always get compliments on them, they are super comfortable, and they are the only shoes I’ve ever owned that don’t get stinky. They’re miracle shoes!
